About Tempua Studio

A consultancy that tells you what it finds, not what you might want to hear

We are based in Kota Bharu and work with business owners across Kelantan and Malaysia who want to understand the practical side of AI tools — with no pressure to take everything on at once.

Who we are

How Tempua Studio came about

Tempua Studio started because two business owners we knew spent months and a fair amount of money setting up AI tools that their staff never used. The tools were not bad. The introduction was. Nobody had sat down beforehand and asked whether those particular tools addressed a real problem in those particular businesses.

We set up in Kota Bharu to do that sitting-down work. Not to sell software. Not to run training courses. To look at how a business actually spends its time, and to give a clear, written answer about where technology might reduce that load — or where it would add to it.

The name Tempua comes from the weaver bird — a bird that builds its nest carefully, strand by strand, with nothing added until the previous layer is secure. That is roughly how we think about introducing any new tool to a working business: slowly, in order, with each step checked before the next one starts.

We work in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Our clients include small retailers, family-run service providers, and solo operators. What they share is that they have a real business to run and limited time to figure this out. We try not to waste either.

What we stand for

  • Plain answers. We say what we find, including when the answer is "not yet" or "this is not the right tool for what you described."
  • Written records. Every engagement ends with a short document you can keep, re-read, or pass on.
  • Limits stated openly. If we reach the edge of what we know, we say so rather than improvise.
  • Fixed ringgit prices. No retainers built into setup, no mandatory follow-ons.
A note on our size We are a small team by design. That means you speak to the same people across every engagement — not a junior account manager after the first meeting.

How we work

Standards we hold ourselves to

Written output every time

Every engagement produces a written note. The Starter Assessment note is two pages. Coaching sessions produce a short summary of what was discussed and any next step agreed.

Data handled with care

When we connect to client order records for the Order Status Assistant, we work only with what is needed. We do not store copies of customer data, and we agree data handling terms before setup begins.

Supervised before it goes live

The Order Status Assistant does not reply independently until two weeks of checked replies have passed. During that period we review every reply it would have sent and adjust before approval.

We say when we do not know

In coaching sessions, if a question falls outside what we are suited to answer, we name that clearly and suggest where better answers might come from — rather than fill hours with guesses.

Staff concerns taken seriously

Team members who are uneasy about AI tools can raise this in sessions. We treat that as a legitimate part of implementation, not a problem to work around.

Honest about timelines

We give realistic estimates and flag when something is taking longer than expected. Setup that runs over schedule gets communicated early, not explained after the fact.

Context

AI integration for small business in Malaysia

Small businesses across Kelantan and Malaysia face a particular version of the AI question: tools that were built for large organisations with dedicated IT departments, marketed toward micro-businesses with one or two staff and no dedicated anyone. The gap between what is advertised and what is practical is wide.

Tempua Studio works in that gap. We do not build new software. We look at what tools currently exist, which ones might address the specific load a business is carrying, and whether the cost — in ringgit, in setup time, in the attention of the business owner and staff — is worth what the tool can actually do.

Our three services cover the three most common positions a small business finds itself in: not sure yet whether any of this applies (Starter Assessment), ready to address one specific and repetitive customer query (Order Status Assistant), or working through the territory week by week with questions that change as the situation changes (Coaching Hours).

We work in Kota Bharu and by video across Malaysia. Session notes are available in English or Bahasa Malaysia.

Start with a conversation

The Starter Assessment at RM 120 is the most common first step. Two visits, a plain-language note, and a clear answer about whether any of our services would help your business. No pressure beyond that.
